About Operation Grit

People have gotten weak

Henry David Thoreau famously said, “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.” Nearly 200 years later, this sentiment describes the apathy, hopelessness, and resignation that has become a cultural zeitgeist of modern America. This shift from living to existing is not only depressing and tragic on an individual level, but it’s choking out our entire society.

The problem is, life has gotten too easy.

In the modern era, marked by the absence of challenges that once defined human existence, Operation GRIT leverages intentional discomfort to snap participants from their slumber and awaken them to their full potential.

Operation GRIT is for people who want more out of life but aren’t sure how to find it. The secret to abundance and fulfillment has always resided within each of us, but tapping into that power is increasingly difficult in a world of garbage distractions and sugary shortcuts.

Through physical training, mindset coaching, and a series of increasingly difficult monthly missions, the Operation GRIT program forces powerful transformation among those with the courage to commit.

The final misogi mission, a 24-hour assignment that pits participants against the unrelenting forces of Mother Nature, marks the last step in the transformative process. Each Operation GRIT finisher is a phoenix who has burned down whatever previously imprisoned them.

Operation GRIT is a wake-up call. Are you bold enough to answer?

Values

  • Freedom: I believe that true freedom occurs when we overcome the limitations of the mind.
  • Acceptance: I embrace the Stoic principle of amor fati, accepting the events and challenges of life as opportunities to grow and learn.
  • Resilience: I cultivate resilience through voluntary discomfort, recognizing that adversity is an inevitable part of the human experience and an opportunity to develop mental toughness.
  • Courage: Fear is a normal experience, but it holds no dominion over my mind. I always choose to act with courage.
  • Community: I believe in the power of a supportive community of like-minded individuals who challenge and inspire each other.
  • Adventure: I celebrate the spirit of adventure and exploration, embracing the new and unknown.

Vision

My vision is a world where individuals embrace discomfort as a catalyst for growth, where facing challenges head-on is a source of empowerment, and where every person discovers their untapped potential through experiences of adversity. I envision a society where resilience is celebrated, excuses are called out, and individuals dare to push beyond their perceived limits.
